Academic lecture on Russian photography up to 1916

The Department of Fine Arts at Yarmouk University's Faculty of Fine Arts organized a specialized academic lecture titled "Russian Painting up to 1916," presented by Professor Dr. Munther Al-Atoum. This lecture was part of the department's ongoing academic activities aimed at deepening the theoretical and visual knowledge of graduate students.

The lecture provided a historical and analytical overview of the development of Russian painting from its inception, focusing on the most significant artistic and aesthetic transformations and stylistic features that characterized Russian art during that period.

During the lecture, Dr. Al-Atoum explored the evolution of the Russian painting school within its cultural and social context, which contributed to shaping its visual identity. He discussed its influences from European schools, particularly Realism and Romanticism, leading up to the early signs of artistic modernism before the major transformations of the 20th century. He also examined the works of several prominent Russian artists, analyzing their technical and thematic characteristics, as well as their intellectual and aesthetic significance.

The lecture was attended by the Head of the Fine Arts Department, Professor Dr. Mohammed Salem, along with a select group of graduate students. A comprehensive academic discussion ensued regarding the importance of studying the history of Russian painting as a gateway to understanding the major transformations in global fine arts. The lecture also represented a valuable addition to the graduate program's academic landscape, offering a systematic analysis of the development of Russian painting as a product of complex historical, cultural, and intellectual interactions. Al-Atoum's analytical approach highlighted the stylistic differences between various artistic periods and clarified the technical and expressive shifts in Russian painting, thereby enhancing students' ability to engage in critical comparison and understand the trajectories of European and Eastern art development at the beginning of the 20th century.

This lecture is part of the Fine Arts Department's ongoing efforts, in line with its strategic plan, to enhance the skills of graduate students and develop their academic and leadership competencies by providing specialized academic spaces that integrate theoretical knowledge with critical analysis of fine arts. In this context, Dr. Mohammed Salem, Head of the Department of Fine Arts, emphasized the importance of these academic activities in cultivating students' critical thinking skills and enriching graduate programs with in-depth knowledge that contributes to developing well-rounded artists capable of understanding, analyzing, and innovating.

This event also reflects the department's commitment to providing a stimulating learning environment that fosters students capable of research and innovation, in line with Yarmouk University's vision of leadership and excellence on both the academic and cultural levels.
