The College of Fine Arts seeks to continue leadership and achieve quality and excellence through its academic programs to serve teaching, learning, and sustainable development of society. The College plays a pioneering role in confronting the challenges facing contemporary education, by creating new methods that suit students’ ambitions, labor market requirements, and community needs. The College seeks to To adapt and develop its programs in line with contemporary developments.

Among the steps it has taken in this context is the proposal to create a digital arts program that includes two tracks (digital film and digital audio), which is considered the first of its kind in Jordan, and is considered unique in the Arab world.


The digital arts specialty should be a leading technical specialty in the field of (digital film production, digital audio production) and a source of creativity and innovation in accordance with international quality standards.


Preparing a generation of professional technicians in the fields of digital arts (digital film production, digital audio production), equipped with scientific capabilities in the theoretical and applied fields, capable of contributing to raising the level of the artistic movement in Jordan, by meeting the needs of the labor market efficiently and competently, and having a role in Raising the level of various arts in the local, regional and global community.

Justifications for creating a bachelor’s degree in digital arts:

1.       The bachelor’s program in digital arts does not exist in Jordan. This program is considered the first of its kind in public and private universities, noting that Luminus University College awards a diploma in this specialty.

2.       Digital arts programs exist in some Arab countries, such as Tunisia, but they are not widely available.

3.       The countries in which this program is located are considered relatively far from the students targeted in this program, such as Jordanian students and students from the Arab Gulf countries.

4.       The college has an academic structure that includes a good number of faculty members who have knowledge in the fields of digital arts, and their sources of knowledge are diverse in terms of the diversity of the universities from which they graduated, and in terms of the diversity of their scientific interests.

5.       The program opens the doors of academic cooperation with Arab and international universities in the fields of digital arts.

6.       The program’s inputs are available in sufficient numbers, as this program is one of the most important fields at the present time as well as in the coming days, as technology has become the language of the age and has entered all fields.

Program Goals:

1.       Creating a generation of professional and highly skilled technicians in the fields of filmmaking and digital audio production capable of producing innovative, contemporary artistic works that keep pace with the spirit and trends of the times and modern global technical developments.

2.       Providing competencies in the field of digital arts to meet the needs in the local and regional labor market for faculty members and technicians in the field of digital arts, capable of adding what is new to scientific knowledge, applied practical skills, and creative ideas in the fields of digital filmmaking and audio production.

3.       Qualifying digital film and audio industry enthusiasts and providing them with the necessary and advanced technical skills in this field that enable them to embody their artistic ideas at the highest professional technical levels.

4.       Creating qualitative scientific and artistic experiments that keep pace with the wheel of technological changes and have a clear impact on the fields of digital arts in general.

5.       Developing the skills of creativity, logical thinking, objective criticism, and the ability to solve problems facing digital arts due to the speed of technological developments that must be kept up with in an innovative and creative manner.

Local and regional labor market need for the program:

There is a need in the labor market, especially in the Arab Gulf countries, Palestine, Iraq and Syria, for holders of a bachelor’s degree in the field of digital arts, in addition to the local market’s need for these graduates to work in various fields.

Graduates’ fields of work and targeted sectors for employment:

Labor market areas include: public and private universities, the Ministry of Culture, audio recording studios, film and television production companies, government and private television and radio channels.

Available university staff, laboratories, and supporting facilities to develop the program:

The college has a number of isolated studios in which teaching can be taught, as the program is applied, in addition to classrooms for teaching and computer laboratories.

Learning Outcomes:

First: Knowledge and Understanding

·         Develops concepts for the fields of digital arts in general.

·         The student learns about the most important modern software used in filmmaking and sound production.

·         The student learns the basics of digital production and processing of films and audio.

·         The student understands the basics of the technical relationship between image and sound in the field of modern media industry.

Second: Mental skills

·         Analyze films, sound effects, and accompanying music.

·         Creates appropriate solutions while doing digital film and audio production.

·         Able to criticize films in relation to the accompanying vocal line objectively.

·         Able to criticize musical works in terms of the quality of their recording, production, and processing in an objective manner.

Third: Professional and practical skills

·         Develops methods for using computerized programs for film and music production in processing and shaping various musical works.

·         Capable of digitally recording sound in lyrical musical works and orchestral and popular instruments in recording studios and live concerts in a professional and qualitative manner.

·         Able to process, combine and synthesize recorded and electronic sounds in a professional and artistic manner and use sound effects available in various software.

·         Able to install audio lines on films and use various sound effects to produce films in their final form.

·         Able to present and market its artistic production and management in the local and regional market.

·         Able to use cameras.

The Department of Fine Arts was founded at the beginning of the academic year 80/81 in the sections of the Faculty of Arts and remained in the Departments of Education and Arts, which was established in the academic year 88/89. In 2000 year, the department became a College of Fine Arts .
